Corolla 501 Master

Corolla 501 Master DEP
The master model can be a stand alone boiler or a modular installation with several slave modules.
Output from 15 to 50 kW (Hs) but with 34.8 kW on Hi. This is not a modular boiler and thus not going under boiler plant installation rules.

Corolla 502 Master
The master model can be a stand alone boiler or a modular installation with several slave models. Output from 15 to 100 kW (Hs)

The slave model must be installed with a master model. Modular installations with several  slave modules can be configured.

Corolla 501 and 502 have one or two boiler modules inside respectively which are named module 1 and 2 and connected to the water and gas system in parallel. Each unit is made up as follows :
Pre-mix combustion system comprising a modulating gas valve integrated with a high performance fan. The system guarantees both a constant gas and air mix under any running condition with a flue gas system through 50 mm plastic pipes whose lenth can reach up to 30 meters approx.
High efficiency, 50 kW heat exchanger equipped with continuous internal bi-metal corrugated helical tube (copper on water side and stainless steel on flue sides). The micro-flame burner is located on the top centre of the heat exchanger with single spark ignition.
Master/Slave control system comprising master PCB and a number of slave controllers equal to the number of boiler modules within the boiler installation. Each slave controls the single module it is connected to.

Corolla 501/502 Installation
 
Corolla 501/502 thermal groups are pre-set for modular installations able to reach an output of 400 kW (over this value we suggest choosing floor standing corolla 503/504 boilers)
Thanks to their compact dimensions (equal to a standard wall hung boiler), Corolla 501/502 boilers can be easily installed in confined spaces where it would be difficult to install a conventional floor standing boiler.
In addition to ease installation, there are some other advantages related to reliability and efficiency. Such installations (made up of more one independent modulei) give a greater service guarantee in the unlikely event of a module failure, or when a module requires routine maintenance, providing continuous heating from the remaining modules.

Water Pipe Kit

To simplify installation, three pipe kits are available with gas and water manifolds: one is intended for the standalone installation of 1 Corolla 501 or 502 and the other two for the modular installation of 2 or 4 Corolla 502. Water pipe kits consist of 3 manifolds which allow flow -return connections and gas supply to each boiler module.

Flue  Manifold Kit 

Corolla 501/502, thanks to the heat exchanger efficiency recover latent heat normally discharged with the flue gases. The resulting flue gas temperature does not exceed 80 oC allowing the use of polypropylene (PP) flue gas pipes with a maximum length up to 30 meters. Fotecal have designed a specialised kit for flue exhaust (accessory) allowing multiple boiler modules to connect to a single flue system diameter 125 mm and having a maximum length as detailed in the drawing below.
Note: When using the common flue system combustion air is drawn directly form the space that the boiler is installed within (open combustion chamber type B).

  
 
In order to improve design and installation procedures, Fontecal created a specific safety kit which is made up of the following components.

The kit also equipped with a water sorter whose installation is strongly recommended (and necessary) in order to equilibre the flow and make the primary (boiler circuit) and secondary circuit (user circuit) independent from each other thus allowing the pump to run under the best working conditions. The kit is also equipped with a number of accessories for the connection and control of the secondary circuits.
 

Remote Control Kit

Master boilers can be connected to a remote control (see picture) providing individual time management to each heating circuit and anit-legionellae function for the domestic hot water supply. Maximum distance between boilers and remote control is 100 meters.

System Design 

Corolla 501/502 regulation system is made of one master PCB and one or more slave PCBs. Each slave PCB controls and monitors the ignition and operating cycles of each boiler module as well as the safety critical functions. The master PCB can manage up to 60 slaves providing a flexible modular installation closely matched to the heating system load.
Such regulation controls both the cascade sequence and the output modulation of the boiler modules to evenly share the required output over as many heat exchangers as possible reducing the ratio between provided heat output/heat exchange surface area improving the condensing performance.
The master PCB can control up to 3 secondary heating circuits, i.e. low temperature, high temperature and DHW circuit. The boilers must be flow rate protected using a primary circuit controlled from the master PCB. Secondary circuits for high temperature constant volume heating, domestic hot water and low temperature variable temperature heating are also controlled from the master control.
Corolla 501/502 boilers can be set and regulated by the digital keypad located on the control panel and they are already preset for the tele-management and remote control. This latter can be made by a remote control (accesory) or by remote  PC working by an interface with the GSM or internet network.
